Glamour girl: Jennifer Aniston shines in a glittering floor length black gown as she attended the The 25th American Cinematheque Awards, at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills tonight

She is regularly seen stepping out on the red carpet in a series of trusty black little black dresses.

And Jennifer Aniston was again sticking to her colour of choice as she stepped out at tonight's American Cinemateque Awards which this year honoured Robert Downey Jr.


However, the 42-year-old star added a twist of glamour in the floor length number with a beaded design as she spoke at the awards ceremony for the Hollywood actor.

The star looked stunning in the number, which featured a split in the front, teamed with strappy black sandals.

She left her hair loose around her shoulders as she joined a slew of stars at the awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel,

The star was accompanied by her boyfriend Justin Theroux, and the pair happily posed over dinner with man of the hour Downey Jr.

They both looked happy and comfortable as they smiled for the camera, while Downey Jr was positively beaming.

Aniston and Theroux joined a galaxy of stars at the event to honour the Iron Man star, including rarely seen Mel Gibson who was spotted larking about with Downey Jr backstage after he received his gong.

Downey Jr was accompanied by his producer wife Susan Downey who is pregnant - the couple are expecting their first child together early next year.

And Jennifer's black dress seemed to be the running theme of the evening with Jodie Foster and Sting's wife Trudie Styler also stepping out in the trusty colour.

Trudie wore a fitted floor length number, while Jodie was more conservative in a frilled black blazer, pencil skirt and heels.

Meanwhile Gibson staged a mock ceremony to present the gong back to the amused Downey Jr backstage.

The pair then struck up a number of poses for the photographers, with Gibson looking particularly cheerful given his recent troubles.

John Favreau, who directed Downey Jr in Iron Man also paid tribute to the star on stage, as did actor Jack Black.

Downey Jr is currently filming The Avengers, where he reprises his role as Tony Stark, who becomes iron Man.
