Nice try: Zara Phillips tried to lift up her future husband Mike Tindall at the Tweseldown Horse Trials
WHEN you have two sports celebrities at the top of their game, a little competition is only natural.
Having confirmed their wedding date this week, Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall yesterday appeared to be vying for the honour of carrying the other across the threshold.
And despite her obvious size handicap, champion eventer Zara was never going to give in easily to her 16-stone fiancé.
Anything you can do I can do better: Mike returns the favour by lifting up Zara and giving her a back massage before she continues eventing
To the amusement of onlookers she made a valiant attempt to hoist the 6ft 2in England rugby ace off the ground – and managed to do so by several inches.
Tindall, however, was always favourite to win the match, sweeping the slight blonde off her feet by simply wrapping an arm under one of her thighs.
The couple’s touchy-feely antics came during a break at the Tweseldown Horse Trials in Hampshire, where Zara was competing.

On Wednesday they confirmed that they will marry at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh on July 30, with a reception at Holyrood House hosted by the Queen.
While Zara’s mother Princess Anne is said to be a great admirer of her future son-in-law’s sporting prowess, he has revealed she is not so fond of his rugby-damaged nose.
Last week he said she had suggested he have a nose job ahead of the wedding because of fears about how the formal photographs might look
